~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Batbusters Gomes - Jason's 16u coaching staff boasts extensive experience and an impressive track record of success across the nation, with over 350 players advancing to college ball in various divisions. Our teams have competed in championship play from coast to coast, participating in events such as PGF, USA Elite Select in Florida, Triple Crown Nationals in Austin, SoCal, and Colorado, and Alliance/USA Softball in Tennessee and Socal, among others. We have consistently guided numerous players to enhance their skills and reach new heights. Rather than resorting to shouting or yelling from the bucket, we prioritize coaching and creating a supportive environment that encourages players to take calculated risks and execute outstanding plays without fear. We firmly believe that allowing players to embrace risks is crucial in realizing their true potential. Throughout our coaching journey, we have maintained a balance between enjoyment and determination, always expecting and demanding our players' utmost effort. Our coaching approach centers around the development process rather than solely focusing on outcomes and stats, and our players have consistently thrived under this philosophy. Our primary mission is to compete fiercely, enjoy the game, continuously improve, and, when the time comes, attract attention from college scouts. We eagerly anticipate the opportunity to coach dedicated, hard-working athletes and guide them towards reaching their next level of success.
Jason Adams
Head Coach
My coaching journey began in 1990 when I started coaching my younger brother's little league team. Following that, I had the opportunity to catch for Steve Eakes at Sierra College during a fall season and part of a spring before joining the Army in 1992. While serving in the Army, I continued my passion for baseball by catching for the Manhattan Pistons, a semi-pro team in Kansas, during the summers. After returning to NorCal in 1996, I took on the role of coaching a Big League baseball team (17 & 18-year-olds) in Citrus Heights, CA. In 2003, my involvement in softball coaching commenced when my daughter Riley showed an interest in the sport and I was asked to lend a hand. We made the transition to travel ball in 2006-2010 with the Roseville Thunder, followed by coaching the NorCal Patriots 16u & 18u teams from 2011 to 2016. From 2016 to 2020, I had the privilege of coaching with the Batbusters Gomes Organization, spending four years at 16u and one season at 18u. In 2020, I joined Foothill Gold to be closer to home and coached a 14U team from 2021 to 2022. The following season, we moved up to 16U and achieved significant success, ranking 84th nationally, before most of our roster graduated to the 18U Foothill Gold team. Recently, during the summer of '23, I had the opportunity to work with Todd Clark at Grapettes Gold. I am thrilled to be back with Batbusters Gomes since Fall 2023, reuniting with my friends Ashley, Trevor, and Richard. My daughter Riley has already concluded her playing career and earned her undergraduate Bachelor's degree in Political Science from Midwestern State University in 2019 and her master's of jurisprudence degree from St. Mary's University School of Law in San Antonio, TX in Dec. 2023. As a proud father, I firmly believe that softball has played a significant role in her success. The lessons learned in softball directly translate to life's challenges, equipping our young athletes with the resilience and preparedness needed to face whatever comes their way.
Ashley Bline
Coach/Liaison
Greetings, I'm Ashley "Ash" Bline, and softball has been an integral part of my life for nearly 14 years. My journey began at the age of 8 when I joined the Vacaville Bobby Sox Recreation league. It didn't take long for me to transition into competitive travel softball, which I continued playing until my high school graduation. Throughout those years, I proudly represented teams such as SC SWAT, NorCal Cruisers, Batbusters, AASA, Batbusters-Jason, Universal, and Dream Seam Legacy.
During my high school years, I garnered multiple accolades, including being named a two-time first-team all-league player and earning the title of league MVP during my senior year. Following graduation, I had the privilege of playing college softball at Western Oregon, Cal State East Bay, Sierra JC, and Simpson College. As a player, I primarily excelled in second base and catcher positions, both in travel ball, high school, and college.
In terms of specialization, my expertise lies in infield work, catching, nurturing the catcher-pitcher relationship, and honing hitting skills. Currently, I am in my senior year of college, pursuing a degree in Sociology/Social Work and working in special education. Regarding my coaching experience, I served as a coach and liaison for Foothill Gold Jason 16U for two years as an assistant coach. I also coached a season for 10U Game Day Softball and a high school season at Buckingham Charter in Vacaville. This marks my third year coaching alongside Jason and Felix.
Playing under Jason's guidance was one of the most impactful experiences of my career. He helped transform my game, instilling in me the confidence and skills required to compete at the next level. Furthermore, Jason has been a mentor and liaison throughout my transition from competitive to college softball.
Drawing from my own playing experience, I believe I have a unique perspective to offer as a mentor and coach, as I understand the game from a player's standpoint. Softball has given me invaluable lessons in commitment, hard work, and sacrifice, and I am driven to share my knowledge and experiences with the athletes of Batbusters Gomes. Being closer in age to the players and having been a former player myself, I am well-positioned to empathize with the challenges and trials our athletes face. This enables me to provide personal mentorship during tough times and help them navigate the incredible challenges presented by the game of softball. I am eagerly looking forward to meeting you on the field and embarking on this coaching journey together.
Trevor Ward
Coach
At the age of 17, I began my softball journey and honed my pitching skills under the guidance of Cese Le Rock, a distinguished coach from Canada's national women’s professional team. Competing in Canadian leagues, I achieved numerous victories in men’s tournaments and clinched the Provincial Championships for British Columbia. Recognized as the MVP and Top Pitcher in the province, I have also celebrated triumphs such as winning the NAFTA Men’s Major A Nationals in 2013 and securing second place in the ASA Nationals in 2012. Throughout my career, I have faced formidable opponents, including the national teams of Australia and New Zealand, and had the honor of competing against renowned pitcher Darren Zack.
In addition to my playing career, I have dedicated myself to coaching, having worked with travel ball teams across the Bay Area from 10u to 18u levels and at the high school level. Initially serving as the pitching coach at Vanden, I transitioned to Buckingham Charter in 2019, where I currently coach and recently led the team to a State Championship in our division.
Furthermore, I have provided private hitting and pitching lessons in the Solano County area for many years, guiding numerous students to successful collegiate careers, with many playing at the Division 1 level.
Richard Bline
Coach
My name is Richard “Rich” Bline, and for nearly 16 years, I've dedicated myself to coaching softball. It all began in 2008 when my daughter Ashley started playing the sport. My coaching journey started at the recreational level in Vacaville with Vacaville Bobby Sox. As Ashley progressed to more competitive softball, so did my role as a coach. Over the next decade, we played for various travel ball teams including Vacaville SWAT, NorCal Cruisers, Batbusters, AASA, Batbusters-Jason, Universal, Dream Seam Legacy, Foothill Gold, and most recently, Batbusters-Gomes/Jason. Throughout this time, I've served in diverse roles such as Organizational Vice President, Head Coach, Assistant Coach, and Recruiting Liaison.
In addition to coaching travel ball, I spent three years coaching high school softball and baseball. My final season coaching high school baseball culminated in leading a team to its first playoff appearance in over a decade. Meanwhile, Ashley, now in her senior year of college, unfortunately had to retire from playing due to injury. Nevertheless, she's on track to graduate on time with a bachelor’s degree in social work. She has no regrets because softball has enriched her life with countless experiences and opportunities.
Since my playing days, I've always considered myself a student of the game. Over these 16 years, I've had the privilege to learn from and collaborate with some of the most accomplished coaches in softball, from college and high school ranks to competitive national champions. I'm the kind of coach who continuously seeks opportunities to learn and evolve.
Professionally, I serve as an Instructor in the US Air Force, where I'm committed to developing my students and players by extracting lessons from every situation and empowering them to reach their full potential. I am thrilled to be part of the coaching staff at Batbusters, eager to contribute to the team's success and growth.
